NEW ARBUCKLE BOOK:

In addition to his Laughsmith Entertainment duties, award winning writer, producer

and director Paul E. Gierucki is penning two new books which definitively chronicle

the life and career of silent comedy legend Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle.

The two tomes, The Complete Films of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle and Not Guilty:

The Rise and Fall of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbucklewere approximately twelve years

in the making.  The books feature hundreds of previously unpublished photos,

letters and documents from Arbuckle's personal collection as well as rare

interviews, transcripts, posters, lobby cards and newly discovered memorabilia

which detail Arbuckle's life and work, much of it from his own perspective.

The tomes bring to light previously undocumented films, stage performances

and stunning new details of his life following the 1922 ban from motion pictures.

This information has remained buried for the better part of a century and will

surprise even the most die-hard fan and historian.

To this day, rumor, supposition and misinformation still cloud the true facts of

the comedian's life and productivity in the wake of the Labor Day tragedy that

supposedly ended his career.  Now, in these definitive and groundbreaking works,

Gierucki finally provides a fascinating, true portrait of the maligned yet undaunted

silent comedy master Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle.

Popular rival of friend Charlie Chaplin, mentor of sidekick Buster Keaton, Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle(1887-1933) dominated silent film comedy from the days of Keystone until tragic events in 1921 shattered his career, throwing his film triumphs into obscurity.

But this was not the end. Blacklisted by Hollywood, Roscoe Arbuckle continued directing dozens of film comedies under the pseudonym “William Goodrich” for almost another decade. Arbuckle was involved in making some 200 films in all. Sadly, the work of the True Fourth Genius of silent comedy remains neglected. That is, until now…

-- David B. Pearson

Silent Film Historian

The Forgotten Films of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle contains 32 classic silent and sound comedies directed by and starring master filmmaker Roscoe Arbuckle. The "Prince of Whales" is also joined by some of the silver screen's most legendary stars including Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Mabel Normand, Harold Lloyd, Ford Sterling, Douglas Fairbanks, Rudolph Valentino, child star Jackie Coogan, and some unjustly forgotten comic luminaries like Al St. John, Mack Swain, Edgar Kennedy, Charley Chase, Monty Banks, Lloyd Hamilton, Lupino Lane and, of course, Arbuckle's multi-talented canine companion Luke.

Digitally remastered from original archival materials, or the only known surviving print, each film features completely restored titles, intertitles, and several films include previously lost or alternate footage. Silent titles debut newly-created scores from Philip Carli, David Drazin, Ben Model, The Mont Alto Orchestra, The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra, Rodney Sauer and Donald Sosin.

This groundbreaking 4 DVD set is a long overdue celebration of the life and loving work of forgotten funny man Roscoe Arbuckle.
